Amidst the economic instability rocking the nation, Some Nigerians have made case for implementation of housing policies that will help tackle housing challenges in the country as the new year approaches.
Speaking with Housing TV correspondent in Abuja, Some residents noted that the housing problem faced by many, had shortened a lot of citizen’s big dreams and rendered them incompetent in their domain.
Peter Dauda ,a job seeker on the street of Abuja while narrating his hurdles said that it has been difficult to have a place to put his head in the city since his arrival as he equally joggles for job hunt to make his ends meet.
Ikechi Johnson, an employee in a fueling station who lives in Lugbe lamented is poor living condition stating that his salary could not meet his needs by getting a comfortable apartment closer to his place of work.
”I live in Lugbe and I come to central Area to work everyday, the transport is actually high then the house rent is more tough. We are trying to survive with house rent yet we go to work everyday.
In 2024,I believe government should look into the house rents of citizens, not everybody can afford to build a house in this economy. House rent is a very big problem in Abuja. please, come to our rescue”
On her part, Grace Alfred, a Lawyer noted that the major challenge faced in her house was the sudden increment of her apartment

”In my Estate ,Landlords increased houses by 2million Naira but my Landlord was so generous that he made ours 1million naira. I will like to see prices of house rents come down a bit in 2024”.
She further urged the government to pay regular attention on the housing scheme as 2024 draws near in order to improve citizens standards of living.
Therefore, it is imperative for governments at all levels to prioritize the housing sector, implementing regulatory bodies to control prices of building materials, housing levies, and ensuring more equitable access to land.
Moreover, by doing so, it is believed that the government can play a pivotal role in enhancing citizens’ standards of living and alleviating the burdens associated with housing challenges.
