REDAN Denounces Unauthorized Representation by Onalaja as Lagos Chairman

The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) has condemned the unauthorized representation of Mr. Bamidele Onalaja as the chairman of its Lagos State chapter.

Mr. Onalaja, Managing Director/CEO of RevolutionPlus Property Development Company Ltd, has reportedly been parading himself as the chairman despite his tenure expiring on 22nd February 2024, according to REDAN’s constitution.

This was made known in a statement signed by John Saka on behalf of the association’s national Secretariat Abuja on Friday.

The statement asserts that Section 20.2(i) of the REDAN Constitution states that elected officers are permitted a single term of four years. Therefore, Mr. Onalaja’s tenure with the 6th REDAN EXCO has ended, and any representation beyond this period is deemed unauthorized.

The statement reads in part, “For record purposes, the national body can confirm that Mr. Onalaja’s tenure expired on 22nd February 2024 in line with the constitution of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria. According to the REDAN Constitution, Section 20.2(i) states that ‘Elected officers of the Association shall be permitted to hold the same office for a single term of four years for the current EXCO, effective from February 2020 and subsequent councils.

“The 6th REDAN EXCO, noting Mr. Bamidele Onalaja’s service, was dissolved upon the expiration of his tenure.

“Therefore, such unauthorized representation goes against the principles and regulations of our association, which has well-established rules and laws for addressing any grievances or disputes. We encourage all members to use these channels for conflict resolution rather than resorting to social media platforms.

“Consequently, the national body, under our constitutional mandate, will thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that necessary sanctions are implemented.”

The statement further reaffirmed REDAN’s dedication to professionalism, discipline, and credibility within the real estate industry, noting that the association remains focused on attracting investments while safeguarding the interests of stakeholders.
