UK Implements Electronic Travel Authorization for Nigerian Travelers and Others

Starting Wednesday, travelers entering the United Kingdom without a visa must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online.

From April 2, 2025, passports alone will no longer be sufficient for visa-free entry, making ETA approval mandatory.

The ETA serves as a digital security check for travelers and helps strengthen UK border security against potential threats.

Initially costing €10 ($12.80), the application fee is expected to increase to €16 in the coming months.

Although not a visa, the ETA allows multiple entries and stays of up to six months over two years.

Applicants must answer security questions, provide address and workplace details, and upload a passport photo digitally.

The UK Home Office recommends using its mobile app, but applications can also be completed via the official website.
