The Lagos State Government has graduated 200 master craftsmen in the built sector in a bid to address the over 15,000 skill gaps in the sector.
The master craftsmen graduated from a six-week intensive training program that covered all aspects of the built sector, from planning and design to construction and maintenance.
The program was designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the built sector and contribute to the development of Lagos State.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Ajigbotafe Akinyemi, said that his administration was committed to building sustainable and affordable housing projects across the state.
He said that the master craftsman program was a key part of his administration’s plan to address the skill gap in the built sector and promote local content.
The governor commended the graduating class for their hard work and dedication, and urged them to use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulafiz Toriola, said that the master craftsman program was a testament to the Lagos State Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and the development of the informal sector.
He added that the program was designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge they need to start their own businesses or become employed in the built sector.
The graduating class expressed their gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the opportunity to participate in the master craftsman program. They pledged to use their skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Lagos State.
