Edo Governor Okpebholo Prioritises Road Networks to Boost Economic Growth

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his dedication to enhancing infrastructure by linking more communities in the Edo Central Senatorial District with quality road networks.

This initiative aims to improve residents’ daily lives and fulfill a core campaign promise.

Ongoing 36km Road Project to Boost Economic Growth

While inspecting the 36-kilometre Utako-Unewa-Eworah-Uromi Road, Governor Okpebholo assured residents of high-quality construction. His Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Accompanied by senior government officials, the governor received a warm welcome from community members, who expressed gratitude and offered prayers for the long-awaited development.

“You can see the joy on the faces of the people. We are happy that those we serve appreciate our work. We will do more to develop this area and other parts of Edo State,” Okpebholo said.

Practical Governance in Action

The governor also inspected Anko Road and Udomi Primary School, both nearing completion. He emphasized his administration’s commitment to practical governance, ensuring that residents benefit directly from government projects.

“We are focused on practical governance—doing what the people will see and benefit from. The 36km road we are constructing will open the area for economic development and growth, allowing the people to feel the impact of true governance.”

Residents Applaud Infrastructure Development

Larha Fanel, a Benue State indigene residing in the area, praised the governor for addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps.

“The previous administration forgot us, but Okpebholo’s government is opening up our communities,” Fanel noted.

Another resident, Madam Alice Ojeifoh, echoed similar sentiments:

“This road was abandoned for years, but the Okpebholo administration decided to remember us. The road will open the area for economic growth and development.”

Contractor Sets Two-Year Completion Timeline
Michael Rezk, the project contractor, revealed that the 36km road would connect eight communities, stimulating economic activities and growth in the region.

“The road begins at the federal road in Uromi. We have started working on concrete drains to channel water from the main road. The laterite stage is progressing well, and soon, we’ll move to stone-base and asphalting. The project will be completed in two years.”
